The DMLS sintered metal process is ideal for:
- Highly complex internal structures
- Rapid prototypes in fully dense alloys
- Fine geometries
- Parts where machining is too difficult or impossible
Key features to this technology are:
- Ability to maintain tolerances of +/-0.001"/inch
- 200W Yb-fibre laser
- Machine build envelope is 9.85" x 9.85" x 7"
- Finished parts are made from pure material and are fully dense
- Material particle size is <20 microns
- Parts in as little as three days
As future metals are in development, through Directed MFG, the sister company to Forecast3D, we are currently practicing AS9100 standards to additive metal manufacturing using DMLS for both medical and aerospace applications. This has lead to the implementation of a broader and more diverse and educated team that is perfecting their expertise and understanding of the process and materials. Since 2006 we have been operating and maintaining our EOS M270 DMLS machines. We are the most experienced operators in the Western U.S. with four machines in place at our ISO 9001 / AS 9100 C rated facility in Austin Texas.
Future materialsFuture commercially available materials include Ti6Al4V, TiCP/Pure Titanium, Hastalloy®, and Inconel®. Please contact us for status regarding their release dates.
